From a 202er:
As I was reading the news this morning this opinion article from the NYT caught my eye. In light of decisions being made on how to proceed in Afghanistan, I feel like the public gets caught up in thinking of ALL Muslims as extremists. I've certainly caught myself in that trap, but this article shows that there are Muslims who want to work with the West for peace and that the extremists are the rarities. Why is it that popular media do not publish more articles prescribing cooperation?

Although this article may show us the "good side" of the Muslim people, there is bias and agression in this article...the extremist views are still present.
The line, "Israel's occupation of Palestine must be brought to an end; its continuation is an affront to the fundamental tenets of justice and freedom that we all seek to uphold" is the very reason why all the fighting is going on in the first place. That is a very extremist view to say that the only way justice and freedom can prevail is for Israel to release its hold on Palestine. It infers the idea that Palestine has a right to be there and that Israel is in the wrong by claiming statehood. I just find it interesting that the very article that was supposedly written to promote peace still shows such strong extremist views. There wasn't any sign of negotiation or compromise in the author's voice. This does not seem like the path to a peaceful Middle East to me!
