I'm tardy in posting this great submission from a 202-er.
Hey Katy,
After talking yesterday about how digging through someone's garbage can constitute invasion of privacy, I remembered this story from the Village Voice about how the author happened to find some of Harvey Weinstein's mail in a public trash can. I thought it was interesting enough to pass on.

What do you think of this?

I think obtaining material like this (in this particular instance) is completely acceptable, albeit maybe gross. How does a media mogul with trade secrets not shred all of his documents before kicking them to the curb? Props to Tony for teaching him a lesson and getting him the shredder.
I agree. If you wanted your business to remain private, he should have shredded it. There is a reason why people own paper shredders. Just think: this could have easily been a credit card offer. Never assume no one will dig through your trash. I rip everything I can to protect myself.
