Writing on sensitive subjects

WisOpinion, Wisconsin's Premier Political News Service

Check out this story. I was impressed when I was being interview because the report, Erik Gunn, was clearly working through the ethical calculus of how to report on what was being called an outrageous and false accusation without repeating and amplifying that lie. How well do you think he handled it?

I think it would have been fine to include the original claim by Bader to provide a bit more context. I do not think doing so would amplify the lie, given Gunn gives you all of the related information.

I could care less what it was, but I would have understood the entire thing a bit more if I knew why Lawton was so upset and how big of a deal this is in the world of media ethics (especially considering the current media smorgasbord of personal affairs in the lives of politicians and media personalities).
