Did you hear about the twin art thefts in Europe? Six pieces were stolen last Wednesday and Sunday in and outside of Zurich. They're saying it's the biggest art robbery in Europe, with works from Monet, van Gogh and Picasso among the stolen.

The writers' strike could be over as early as Monday, after negotiations this weekend.
This has been the longest writers' strike since 1988. And you know what gem of a TV show that brought us? Fox's COPS. I'm glad the writers are demanding to be compensated fairly, but I say, the sooner the better with the end of this thing.

Here's one for the sake of keeping Britney Spears in the public eye.
According to msn.com, the broadway musical "Spamalot" has decided to change the lyrics in one of its songs from poking fun at Britney's prominence in the media. Instead they are changing the lyrics to mention Victoria Beckham, or "Posh Spice" as they say in the lyrics. When asked why they changed the words, the author stated "Because we don't laugh at sad people." He followed up by saying "Britney Spears is being tortured to death and we don't want to be on that side."

Professional baseball player Roger Clemens is still denying that he ever used performance-enhancing drugs, but his former personal trainer, Brian McNamee, is still claiming that Clemens did. Both testified, but obviously they can't both be telling the truth.
Following the Yahoo! rejection of Microsoft's takeover bid, Yahoo! is now looking into partnering with media conglomerate News Corp. (aka Rupert Murdoch)

I'm sure many of you have heard, but a gunman opened fire this afternoon at Northern Illinois University in a lecture hall. At least 18 people were injured.
Is it just me, or is this getting too common now?
Today Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia. It's a small country but it has a violent history—Serbia made news frequently in the 90s because of the ethnic cleansing under Slobodan Milosevic.
