President Bush vetoed a bill today that would have banned the CIA from waterboarding (very controversial) and using other harsh interrogation techniques on suspected terrorists. According to CNN, Bush said, "The bill Congress sent me would take away one of the most valuable tools in the war on terror."

I have been shaken by the similar murders of the Auburn University freshman, Lauren Burk, and the University of North Carolina Student Body President Eve Carson. I do not understand senseless acts of violence, and although police believe the two are not linked, they are eerily similar.

The outpouring of the UNC community is really touching and almost unbelievable. The Daily Tar Heel (UNC paper) dedicated their entire paper to Eve on Friday. It's hard to imagine having any one student figure like that at UW-Madison who everyone knows and admires.

Here is some unique marketing..and a nice break from studying this weekend.

Looks like Sony took an interesting route to promote the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album.

There is an interesting aspect of the democratic race for president going on right now. Both Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton have been hinting at the possibility of a "dream ticket," meaning a joint Obama/Clinton ticket in the general election. Obama, however, does not seem as enthuastic about the idea.

The socialist party won Spain's general election but apparently fell short of votes in parliament.
